Freise, J. F., Heitland, W. & A. Sturm (2004): Das Wirtspflanzenspektrum der Roßkastanien-Miniermotte, Cameraria ohridella Deschka & Dimic (Lepidoptera: Gracillariidae), einem Schädling der Roßkastanie, Aesculus hippocastanum [Host plant range of the horse-chestnut leaf miner, Cameraria ohridella (Lepidoptera: Grarillariidae), a pest of the white flowering horse-chestnut, Aesculus hippocastanum.] Mitt. Dtsch. Ges. Allg. Angew. Ent. 14: 351-354.

The host plant range of Cameraria ohridella was investigated by no-choice host-specificity-tests. The endemic species Aesculus hippocastanum, A. turbinata, A. octandra (=A. flava) and A. pavia support full development of the leaf miner. On A. chinensis C. ohridella could not develop to adults. On A. carnea, A. indica, A. californica, and A. carnea the larvae died in the first or second mining larval instar. Acer pseudoplatanus and A. platanoides were attacked by C. ohridella and full development was observed. Mines containing dead larvae of the horse-chestnut leaf miner were found for the first time on Corylus avellana in the field. The potential origin and the possibility of the occurrence of an host-shift of C. ohridella are discussed.
