Coinbase Launches Feature Allowing Direct Messaging Between Ethereum Addresses
US-based crypto exchange platform Coinbase has launched a new decentralized chat feature for its wallet that enables direct messaging between Ethereum (ETH) addresses. The feature is powered by web3 chat protocol XMPT and grants users full ownership of their chats.
Ability to Import & Export Chat Logs
The new function also offers users the ability to search for others or connect with each other through the use of a QR code. In addition, it allows them to import and export chat logs to other projects, as well as facilitate gas-free transfers of stablecoin USD Coin (USDC) over layer-2 scaling solution Polygon (MATIC).
Fully Encrypted & Secure Messaging
All messages sent via the Coinbase Wallet are end-to-end encrypted and stored in XMTP’s decentralized communication network. This ensures that only users have access to their chats, while Coinbase does not have any access whatsoever.
Interoperable Messaging
The messaging service on Coinbase Wallet is interoperable, meaning users can take their conversations beyond the app onto social DApps (decentralized applications). This provides them with even more flexibility when it comes to connecting with others in the crypto space.
Send Payments Easily & Gas Free
By leveraging Polygon’s technology, users are able to send USDC instantly without having to pay any gas fees within the app itself – making transactions faster than ever before.
